About Me

Since July 2012, I am with the Telecommunications Circuits Laboratory at the Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne (EPFL) in Lausanne, Switzerland. This page will no longer be updated.

I received my M.Sc. degree from the Technical University of Crete (TUC) in June 2012. Before that, I received my 5-year diploma from TUC with grade "Excellent" (8.52/10) in March 2010. During my undergraduate studies I received academic achievement scholarships (top 10% of class) for the academic years 2005-2006 and 2006-2007, and an academic excellence scholarship (top of class) for the academic year 2007-2008 from TUC. I also received a scholarship from the State Scholarships Foundation of Greece for the academic year 2007-2008. I am also recipient of a scholarship for postgraduate studies from the Onassis Foundation. I successfully attended a large percentage of the graduate courses needed for an M.Sc. degree during the final year of my undergraduate studies and am now focusing on research on applications of LDPC codes in multiuser environments, while attending the remaining graduate courses at TUC.

During the summer of 2011 I spent two months at EPFL doing a summer internship on Network Coding under the supervision of Professor Christina Fragouli and Javad Ebrahimi.

In non-academic terms, I am the bass player and vocalist of Next to Nothing, a geographically scattered band of friends which distributes its music for free under a Creative Commons license. I recently picked up flute lessons, mainly inspired by Jethro Tull's amazingly talented Ian Anderson. I also enjoy alpine skiing (believe it or not, we do have snow in Greece) and have been a tennis player for almost 15 years.
